P38 How to remove rear wiper arm?

Thinking of removing the rear wiper arm on my P38 to de-rust and repaint it. RAVE says just lift the cap and undo the nut, but it is so tucked away under the rear spoiler that there is no clearance for that.
Any tips?

Operate the wiper and in mid swing open the boot lid it that helps? The wiper will stop instantly in its position when the button is pressed on the boot👍
 
RAVE is not super helpful...

Ratchet ring spanner perhaps? Sometimes helps to press down where the hinge is after removing the nut to take the tension off the wiper and allow it to wiggle off the spindle.
I’ll leave well alone, move the arm to vertical position, and tidy up the bits i can then reach (which is most of the arm).
It’s one of those mysteriously inaccessible items on Planet P38, like changing the clock bulb. Now that one really is the greatest challenge, never mind simple obvious stuff like dislodged liners, exhaust gas in the coolant, heater o-rings, door locks, EAS…

Pretty sure I just popped my clock out using feeler guages or maybe accessed via the stereo slot. It was a long tine ago though.
 
I had to do this recently as the rear wiper motor failed so I swapped it for one from a breaker. I'm not sure that I understand what problem the OP is having. It's just as it says in RAVE. You flip up the cover over the nut then get a spanner on the nut & undo it. I put penetrating oil on it it & left it overnight before attempting removal but didn't encounter any particular problem using a combination spanner. I initially thought that I might need a special thin spanner but it wasn't to be.

BTW As you need to flip up the little cover over the nut you definitely don't want to park the wiper arm hanging down as you won't be able to get the spanner on the nut as the cover would be in the way.

I am missing something here - there is a scant 10mm clearance to the fairing above the cap. How on earth do you raise the cap enough to get at the nut, and even then you can’t get an extractor onto the arm. I’ll leave it in place and clean up as best I can.

Stereo slot access needs fingers like ET. Clips are too firm to get a blade in.

I thumped the clock, as per other postings here - the light came on - sorted…!

I am learning the LR way of fixing things: I kept getting an alarm that screenwash was low, even though it was full. So I let it run right down, on the assumption that there is a little float switch in the bottle, and with a low actual level it would bounce on and off a few times, clean itself and start working properly. Worked a treat…
