so, hopefully i am close to getting another RR ( 5.0SC) so will be looking to sell my P38, i have never sold a car privately before- so have no idea on what it is worth. I have looked on AT and seen similar. However would like advice and sensible suggestions. I can then advertise on the For Sale section.

I have owned the car since Sept 2009., has always passed its MOT first time. Just MOT’ed – Nov 7th, there was an advisory note for “suspension ball joints” I drive the RR mainly on weekends, around London, local driving and once every month or so, I drive to west midlands for the weekend. I am not a mechanic and don’t know much about at cars, per se- from my view- it drives well, locally and on the motorway. It does have sound squeaks and needs some work done to it, which I have listed below. Body work is in OK condition as is the interior. Overall it is all standard DHSE spec except the wheels – which from my research seem to be these: http://www.pimpmywheels.com/images/wheels/r921big.jpg
AXE 607 Full Chrome Alloy Wheels | AXE 607 Full Chrome Alloys

Detail of the car are:
W Reg ( 2000) 2.5 DHSE Diesel
7 previous owners.
When I got the got it had 112k Miles it now has 150K.
I generally tend to drive it on weekends, around town. Every few weeks it get a good run to the west midlands and back. As well as regularly taking it further south Southampton/Weymouth with no issues.
Since I have had it I have had the following work carried out.
2009- Radiator Hose, Glow Plugs, Temp sensors, Cylinder pressure tested and skimmed, Cylinder gaskets, engine oil, thermostat, antifreeze.
2010, Antifreeze, New radiator, water pump, thermostat, coolant, Fan and viscous,
2011, Battery, Track rod ends bars
2012, Switch pack, (reconditioned, old still available), front headlights, blend motors, (used)
2013, Alternator, Middle and rear exhaust,
2014. Both rear EAS bags, driver’s window regulator,
As well as the usual brakes and tyres when required.
I also have the Air Suspension reset tool and the BECM Sync Mate
I have most of the paperwork for the above.
As far as I know It requires:
Bonnet latch, the HEVAC looking at (blower motors) the headline is starting to sag at the back (hoping to have this fixed in the next couple of weeks). The heated seats don't work. It has a cold start issue, developed in the last few months. Some proper TLC is required.
I have all the MOT papers since I have owned it as well as few from before.
Any suggestions?

Cold start issue. Glow plugs. You should not skim diesel heads to remove warps, but if you got away with a cleaning skim all is well i suppose.

sorry I don't want to sound cranky but you've left out the most important bits ???
how old is it ????????????
7 previous owners ????????? sounds ominous !!!!!!!
and finally its a doozle !!!!!! that's bound to put all us v8 petrol heads off ....
p.s. give the wheels free to a good home " circus / druggie !!!!!
but good luck anyway . regards mozz

Value.. about 1800 - 2200.

7 owners isnt much for what were high end cars, you'll find very often in the first 5 years alone there was probably 3 or 4. People get them on lease or finance and chop them in with the main dealer after a year. 7 owners for what was a high end car that is now 15 years old is about average.

will hopefully put pics up on the weekend, ( after i have given her a good wash) To add to the drug lord theory, it has also got tinted rear windows!

Have now bought a 5.0SC, collect it next week. So need to sell my current P38. I am only at 30 posts and need to get to 50 to place the add here. I have now got a figure in mind which i think is fair- however will wait till i get to 50 posts to put the price on. I also still need to give her a good wash and take some pictures. As i cant wait till the weekend- will make use of the local Supermarket flood lights - in evening in the next day or so.
So please help me to get to 50 posts.
thanks

photos using super market flood lights will not get you a sale. nor will it after wammers said he wouldnt touch it if the heads been skimmed he is after all the gandelf or one of them on here. sorry

BTW it was Datatek who said "Sorry, if the head has been skimmed, personally I would not touch it"
The work was actually carried out by an Independent Land rover Specialist - if that makes any difference.

I don't think you will sell it on here.
The folks here are too tight, better off with Gumtree.
I sold my Project Discovery on there in 4 days and not heard from the seller again.
I wouldn't like to sell to a friend or someone I knew as I would feel responsible for the motor should something go wrong, that said I did tell the guy I sold it to, that if he needed to use my Nanocom to give me a bell.

thanks, i will advertise it on there also. It is a good runner, i think someone who knows about the P38 would be able to give it some much needed TLC would appreciate it. The dealer has made me an offer as a P/X - however i would prefer to sell it privately for the same amount.

Regardless of who did the work...the official Land Rover Workshop Manuals indicate the heads must not be skimmed!!

datatek/wammers in my sort time here i have come to respect their words of wisdom, you are however correct datatek said he wouldnt touch it and wamms said its shouldnt be skimmed either way i honestly dont think those on here will go near it like others have said try other places for a sale, good luck with it
