Hi All,

With winter on it's way I'm just getting ready to fix my heated seats. I have a question about the 2 different LR part number pairs for the replacement elements. I have conficting information found on 2 separate part suppliers websites.

Part number pairs:
HGL000050 Element - Front Heated Seat - Cushion
HGK000050 Element - Front Heated Seat - Squab
or
HGL000040 Element - Front Heated Seat - Cushion
HGK000040 Element - Front Heated Seat - Squab

Website 1 lists the pair ending 50 as suitable for cars upto VIN XA (1999) and the pair ending 40 as suitable for cars from VIN YA (2000).
Website 2 says the 50 pair for all years with standard leather and the 40 pair for all years with Oxford leather.

I have had a look in Microcat, but the part numbers have changed since my copy was released (March 2010). However from what Microcat says I think website 2 is correct.

Now for the question. My 2001 Vogue has normal leather seats. Last winter I bought a pair of HGL000040 Elements that I was just about to fit. Now I think I have the wrong ones as they appear to be for Oxford leather seats. Does anyone know what the difference is between these different elements and what would happen by fitting the wrong ones?

Thanks, LW....

For anyone that might be interested I've found the correct answer now, website 2 is correct.

Why don't you save your money and just repair the one's you've got. It's only a case of re-joining the broken elements, a bit of wire, some solder and heat shrink. That's what I did and changed the stats for some hotter ones whilst I was at it. All with help from here.

That's what I did however the wire was so brittle that the repairs were many and ultimetly futile. I think I will be replacing the whole element this winter.
