All,

My Dad's '97 DSE has gone on the blink AGAIN. A few weeks back it had a slight miss at idle, but more recently, stopped starting at all. My Dad had it recovered to a local mechanic who clearly does not have a clue. First of all, he could not switch off the immobilizer..I had to go and do that. They then ran a diagnostic and he told us the problem was with signal from the remote not being strong enough…eh? He then proceeded to change the batteries on the remote and it now seems to have died completely as there is no flashing light…So while it was turning over before, it is completely dead.

In short, is there a trustworthy specialist with the correct diagnostic equipment In the Heathrow/ West London area?

I am really stuck and totally fed up at the moment and would appreciate any advice you can offer.

There is a place nr Bedfont on the London road its an independent and he is very good an knowledgeable pm me and i can give you direction by phone if you give me your number

Sorry i cant remember the name of the place, but its off the A30 going towards Staines, keep on the A30 past Hatton X, up to the big round about (4th exit) still on the A30, past bridgestone tyres (Aircraft tyres) and it’s the first on the left, it’s a dead end road, he is right at the bottom on it on the right hand side, “Harrow Road”

I just had a muck about with my remote, if the back isn’t on correctly it wont work, you line up the arrows to put the back in and take it out, when you put the back on you MUST twist the back or it wont work, so the arrow on the back cover reaches 9o/c, also I have just remembered the batteries HAVE to be specific to the fob, you need (any make) I have Varta, but they must be the CR2025 Li-Mn 3v type have another go !! If the light comes on, then you may have to synchronise the fob with the car again, put it in to the ignition turn it, and you should see the red LED flashing on the fob, start it up, (hopefully it will) then check your other fob the one that doesn’t work? And keep doing this from 1 to the other until both of them lock and unlock on the key pad
