P,a,s pump outlet/inlet

Afternoon all,, fitting p,a,s to my n/a 90 the same as many people on this site,i have a brand new pump (ntc8287) and i am going to get the pipes made up localy,, but for my information as this is all new to me, i can put the pump in two different positions the inlet/outlet can face up into the engine bay or down,,
anybody know which way they face ???
they cant go to the right as that takes them directly into the chassis !
