Hi there everybody, new to the forum and to Range Rover ownership. Looking forward to using the forum to help out and join in etc. First though I have only just got my 3.9 Classic 93L reg and I already have a problem. After it has been running for about 20 minutes the coil gets so hot, you cannot touch it. I have changed the coil over yet this has not helped. Someone said about an amplifier on the distributor but I am lost. Can anyone help?

seems maybe a tad hot then, i think it has oil in it to cool it down thats how hot they get

6 volt or 12 volt coil??? use the wrong one and it will overheat till it cuts out and restarts when cool, Id guess you have a 12 volt coil but need a 6. common on earlier classics, the coil gets 12 volts direct from the starter for initial starting but only uses a 6 volt feed for normal running, not sure about one as late as yours though

Cheers Steve
