i got a p reg 300 tdi defender 110 with a viscous fan . it keeps overheating . theres plenty of coolant . oil etc etc etc but not too much either.

i bought it as my first motor ( im only 15 but been driven a landy since i was 8 so i can do it pretty well ). it only heats up when you give it alot of revs as when i pootleing about trying out winches etc its fine but i went for a cruise and under high revs it overheated. fast

i will see if its an air lock tomorow . but i reckon it could be the old viscous fan . im told they are suposed to speed up with the revs to cool sufficenty.well it doesnt ??

it has got a winch , snorkel and spots but i cant see they would make a ****s worth really .

live on a farm and harvest is finished aka lots of stubble fields. dont worry i havnt been thrashing it or anything im dead carefull cos i love the old girl too bits
 
From my experience with viscous fans, they are supposed to get stiffer to turn the hotter they get. You shouldn't be able to spin it very much once you turn off the hot engine. Do not try to see how hard it is to turn with the engine running.

When you say high revs, was this high revs but low speed? Normally, the wind going through the grill should be enough to cool everything but if it's high revs and low speed, the fan pulls cool air through.

I could be wrong on some or all of the above but hope it helps anyway.
 
no mate and why are you all like this once you find out its a kid .i paid 1500 for it and i own half of it my uncle said hed sell his half when i was 17. were not all privatly schooled or spoilt mate i happen to live in the real world aswell i go to a normal scholl and work on dads farm
 
Whenya said cruise I sort of had a vision of ya pootling down the sea front or blatting down the Motorway..

any way change the fan, check belt tenshion and if that dunt work let us know.
 
no mate ive earnt my money like the whole family . i ernt it by stackin bales driving tractors and rearing pheasants with gamekeepers
