my p38 is over heating, ive had a new water pump and new radiator put on but still over heating.but ive noticed the 2 pipes that go into the radiator get very hot and are expanding, and the radiator is stone cold.

blockage perhaps? try getting new pipes/or silicone pipes as they dont expand under heat.
take off the pipes leading into the rad and block the inlets into the rad so as not to spill all cooling. have a look through pipes.

yes i did change the thermostat, its a 2.5 diesel, does it cost much for head gasket to get done at garage.

If both pipes to the rad are hot and the bottom of the rad is cold, my money is on the baffle in the centre of the rad header has failed so the water is just going straight across the top instead of down one side and up the other as some mad designer intended:eek: Several people seem to have had this problem with new rads. take the rad off the car, drop a marble in one end, tip the rad and if it comes out of the other end the rad is no good as the baffle is missing, take it back to the supplier. The marble should not be able to go from one side of the header to the other.
