Freelander 2 (LR2) Outside temperature sensor location

I have a 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S . The outside temperature reading in the dash fluctuates wildly, going from actual temp to -24 degrees in seconds. I have replaced the sensor in the NSF door mirror but no change, still useless. Is there another sensor that measures outside temp for this? I have a Ford part number for an outside temp sensor that is supposed to be on a FL2 but I have no idea where it is located. The number I have is 91 AG 10374 BA. Anyone had this problem in past and found this elusive sensor Thanks in advance.

According the the LR service manual, there is only 1 outside temperature sensor, which is in the LH side door mirror.

Rapid temperature changes would suggest a bad connection, possibly a broken wire.

Thanks wiring checks out ok with meter and all connectors are clean. I have tried disconnectng it to simulate broken wire and display does not function. Typical weird Land Rover fault. Must be mad as I have 2 a pair of Freelander 2 and a Discovery 3

That's interesting.
The external temperature sensor is connected to the ECM, which uses the information and also broadcasts the temperature values on the high speed CAN to the CJB. The CJB then sends the temperature values out over the medium speed CAN, for use by other modules in the vehicle.
Maybe the ECM isn't outputting the correct values, or maybe the CJB is scrambling what it's getting, before sending out gobbledygook?

You could try using a standard OBD2 diagnostic tool on the ECM, and check the external temperature values are what is displayed on the Ipack, or whether they're correct, which might narrow it down a bit.
