Hi there!

I'm (slowly) restoring a series 3 109 which came into my possession with enormous aftermarket wheels, and even more ridiculous tyres. I intend to replace them.

I've got some new replacement wheels which look similar to stock (though aren't, I don't think) from Britpart, but no one at Britpart has been able to tell me what sizes of tyre would be appropriate for these wheels.

I'm looking for something close to the original size of tyres that it would have trundled out of the factory with, perhaps a little narrower (for the steering is heavy and I am weak) - but would value any input on what an appropriate tyre size would be for these wheels with this in mind, both in terms of width and profile.

Further, if anyone has any particular brands or models to recommend, that would be great!

Thanks everyone!

109 were standard fit … 7.50x16 Avon range masters

There are other makes. I have Michelin latitude and yes I still green lane with these & no problems

What rims do you have exactly? Are the tubed or tubeless rims?

What do you plan to use the vehicle for?

7.50 x 16 is a good size, quite tall. But very poor choice these days. Modern tyres tend to work better than trying to stay old fashioned.

There are lots of other potential sizes you could run and Land Rovers have been fitted with various sizes from the factory over the years.
