Optima and Similar Batteries!

What are everyones experience of the Optima battery?

Does anyone else make a Battery equal or better in performance? And if so who and what sort?

I want to fit one to my Disco, we have an electric winch on our Car Transporter, I use it for Jump Starting regularly and most of all I want it to be a reliable starter year round!

Lastly where can you get one for the best price?

I think you'd be daft to put all of your eggs in the one basket by running everything from a single battery if your doing jumping/winching an regular basis - and those so called specilist batterys are blinking expensive.

I just have two standard batteries, connected via split charge unit - one feeds the starter and the "normal" bits - the other feeds the winch/external lights and any other extras.

You can get quite a few good quality batteries from the price of those Optima ones an dhave a few quid left over for any additional wiring and connectors that would be needed.
