Hey guys,
Well the time has come for me to replace my tires. 31x10.50x15 Mickey
Thompson Baja Radial MTXs. I was eyeing the Baja Claws as a potential
replacement.
The absolute largest tire I can go with is a 31x10.50 due to limited
clearance and still allowing full articulation. The vehicle is a 1975
Chevy van; limited front tire clearance and in the rear a wide tire
won't allow the sliding door to open... or if you do manage to get it
open, you won't be getting it closed!
The van sees about 50/50 road and off-road use. Off-road is usually
desert terrain, rocky soil and sandstone. Noise and road manners
don't bother me that much; with 4.10 gears it's not the fastest thing
on four wheels (normal hwy cruising speed = 55 mph).
I'm open to suggestions on other tires too... I hear the Kumhos are a
good buy but most of those reviews come from the mad moms in SUVs (aka
never off-pavement).
