Hi Folks
If any of you could spare thought or 2 over Christmas I'd be grateful. The cylinder head gasket blew on my 300tdi a while back (loads of steam from exhaust). Radweld stopped the steam but ever since I've had an overheating problem - no heat through the heater plus over heating on hills, until suddenly heat comes through heater and engine temp drops to normal for rest of journey regardless of hills. Occasionally get pressurized expansion/ thermostat housing. Tried flushing coolant system. Much Welding, clutch and other things have always taken priority. Finally pressure blew top off thermostat bung, so I replaced the head gasket. Interestingly no obvious evidence of blowing. Head seemed fine - not warped.
First journey after, heat took a while to come through but temp fine, no pressure - thought problem solved. Second journey no heat, and temp into red and pressure - git!
What to do now? Can anything else other than combustion gases cause pressure in the coolant system? - such as lump of radweld somewhere?

Thinking of tightening the new head bolts an extra 20 degrees.
Has anybody used steal seal?

The wife is loosing patience - will that decorating ever get done?

Cheers
