Sigh! Have a weekend planned in Mid-Wales this weekend, and to cut a long story short, she's on her bump stops.
Pump works fine - but is not operating because of a fault of some sort.
If there is anyone near Marlborough by any chance that might be able to give us a hand to get her back on her feet again then I'd be eternally grateful.

Try bridging the pump relay. If the pump then runs, it's most likely the Thermal Switch.

Do you get EAS Fault message on the dash ?
 
Thanks. we did bridge the relay and it did run. There was an EAS fault shown on the dashboard message centre when starting and the ride height switch had every button lit but only the lowest and normal lights showed when the relay was bypassed. Although we ran the pump for about 15 min with the relay bypassed she did not rise. is this what you would expect?
 
If you ran the pump for 15min it should fill the tank. Best to do with a door open to stop the system sending air to a leaky bag.
  • First thing is to see if the pump is giving good air & diaphragm valve is working.
    • Remove the silencer and check for air leaking while pump is running. If air is leaking then Diaphragm is leaking or valve not working.
    • Next undo the pump outlet & check the running pressure with finger. If it's low refurbish pump.
  • Once you get a good fill in the tank, close all doors.
    • Car should now rise unless you have a hard fault in the ECU.
    • This is less likely because you got the 2 LED mode indicating it's trying to rise.
  • You probably have leaks somewhere
    • Do the soapy water thing !!
 
Ah, you're here as well as LZIR!

Sounds like pump isn't producing air and has burnt out the thermal switch.
Sorry - I did realise after creating tis post I probably should have put it in LZIR - so I did put a note somewhere further up the post that I was also posting there - but then forgot o reference in LZIR that I had already posted here. Whoops. Sorry.:rolleyes:
 
Before buying a replacement thermal switch, test it. The switch simply connects Pin-2 to ground, and goes open circuit when the pump overheats. One problem is the wire is crimped inside the pump and often loses connection, so the ECU thinks the pump is overheated even when it's not !!

To check simply connect Pin-2 to ground and see if the ECU fires the relay & pump.
 
Could be - I had a refurbished pump handy so replacing the pump is easy - but sounds like I need a new thermal switch.

Thermal switch is in top of pump so if you replace pump just do it with rest of refurb.

If pump replaced and still not pumping must be relay, fuse or connector somewhere - unless the pressure switch has failed which is very rare.
