I had a water leak some months ago and had to have a gasket at front of engine between it and water pump mount.
Ever since I can not sustain a speed of more than 55mph otherwise she starts to overheat. If I keep the speed down I can drive all day long. Now the hot weather is getting close I'm afraid I will have to drive even slower.
Anyone got an idea?

sounds like the water pump isnt up to the job.
but could also poss be the thermostat. try a new stat first. cheaper than a pump!
worst case is a HG gone.

also - try a product called "Water-Wetter" - it works! i.e., ads to your coolant reduces surface tension and the water flow is much better - and this can make all the difference in an old girl! Anyone who tows trailers down in the Southwest of the US in the summer knows about this stuff
