oil pump failure

Hi this is my first post. I have a 2016 Discovery Sport 80000 miles. The oil pump failed and has wrecked the engine. Yeovil Landrover, who have always serviced the vehicle, contacted landrover solutions who have only offered 40% towards the repair leaving me with a bill of in excess of £10000.
The red critical oil light came on 50 meters out of my driveway and within seconds the engine stopped, leaving me with limited steering and brakes.
Landrovers assistance towards the cost I feel is inadequate.
Any thoughts from members would be greatly appreciated

Sorry to hear about your woes.
I am sure it was a recall item on earlier discos but don’t know, but if yours never had it but was supposed too maybe you have grounds.
How long have you owned the car?

oh and although you don’t have a car to nick it’s advisable not to put your postcode in your location:).

Yes I've enquired about second hand recon engines, they are around £5000 and you still have to fit. Unsure what to do
 
For the engine thats true but the fitting costs are the same. The engine from Landrover comes with their usual 2 year warrentee and you can of course extend it. The recondition engine is only 90 days and does not include "various" add ons. I did this with a truck at work once, the engine was fine but it was other ancillary parts that increased the price of installation.

Be careful where you get the engine and who fits it. There's some scammers who advertise on the web using different company names to hide their identity. They offer cheap prices then increase the price once they have the vehicle. Often not giving it back.

Have a look on the disco sprt forum for tips on what they do with engine swaps.
 
Welcome Aboard :) Sorry to hear of your issues - but as stated, it is not uncommon - and, from what I read on the web, LR's attitude seems to be consistent :(
