Hi chaps,
Just done an oil change, filled her her up took her for about a 0.5 mile to let the new oil run around, filled her up to about. 1/4 away from the H on the dipstick, runs nicely!
Thing is that when the ignition is on (but no engine) the oil pressure light comes on really dim! I'm not sure if its always done this and I haven't noticed due to it been dim, or it's a new fault!
Also it goes off as soon as she runs
So any advice? And I've tried braking hard to see if that makes it come on and it doesn't so I don't think it's a fault, just want make sure :)
Thanks ben:)

That's nearly right, it should come on bright when you turn on the ignition then go off just after it starts. Maybe you have a bad bulb (wrong wattage?) or poor connection. You could have a wiggle of the wire (its on the oil filter mounting) or try earthing that connection to see if it gets brighter (brighter would point to faulty sensor switch).

When the engine is off the oil pressure light should be on. The engine only generates oil pressure when its turning, so when its not running there is no pressure and the light comes on. It should be on bright enough to be obvious though. If it came on when you were driving due to low oil you'd want to notice it. Its worth checking the wirning for poor connections.

Yeah possibly what dominicbeesley said..... several times I've had to take the dash back off after I've put it back after ferkling around in there cos the bulb has come out, resulting in a very dull glow like you have described.... you'd think I would have learned after the first time:eek:
