Oil leaking over alternator

Hi, my disco 2 battery light comes on after driving for a little while then stays on for the rest of the journey, on closer inspection there’s oil all over the alternator,has the alternator had it? And where could the oil be coming from

if the alt isn't reading over 14v when running then it's a pretty good indicator its goosed..

Oil could be coming from many places, 'tis a land rover afterall, my first guess would be the rocker cover.

If its a TD5 it may be the oil seal between the vacuum pump and the alternator
