HI all i recently bought a 110 pick up which had HG failure ,Thanks mate!

I had an eratic temp gauge ,no heat etc.

Ive had the head gasket done ,temp gauge has been fine seems to be running really nice, and we have heat haha

But I'm developing a leak from this rubber grommet on the top of the engine ? any ideas?

im also getting what i think is a diesel leak dripping onto the wet road, lots of colours very noticeable .is this diesel leaking out?

any help much appreciated.

All the best
Dan

If you mean the halfmoon rubber grommet, then that is the rocker gasket, needs to be refitted a simple job to do.

Diesel leak, you need to identify whereabouts in the engine ? driver side , passenger side?

Cheers

The most likely place for a diesel leak on a TD5 engine, if its from engine bay area is from the fuel pressure regulator (either from gasket or usually internal rubber O ring failure) which is on the drivers side of the engine (on the side of the engine near the bulk head end of the engine) with fuel pipes to and from regulator, easy enough to change but a bit of a bugger to get at. But are you sure the film on the road is not from the oil leak.

Hi Scooby, the fpr looks pretty clean, only the oil thats been running down back of the engine from rocker cover gasket near around the fpr from what i can see. I'm going to do the rocker cover gasket tomorrow and hopefully that cures it! Thank you

It's good practice to use a blob of RTV sealant on those areas that aren't horizontally flat, including where the half moon is.

The rubber grommet on a TD5 is a full round inspection grommet that often becomes loose with age and leaks oil. You can replace it with a new one or remove and clean the old one then stick it back in with sealer / silicone.
No it can't leak diesel out of this grommet.
As mentioned by Scooby the usual diesel leak on a TD5 is the fuel pressure regulator at the offside rear of the engine.

Hi all , just to clarify , it is an oil leak !

I have changed the rocker cover gasket today ,

I left it running once done after about an hour I was getting a slight amount of oil coming from that rubber d at the back of the engine . Not lots but still leaking all the same , I used a little sealant around the d bit .

Should I just accept it and keep an eye on the oil, ??
