Up **** creek.
my 1996(N) 3.9 V8i has been pulling to the passenger side slightly whilst braking and ive found the problem, oil/grease is leaking from around the front drivers ABS sensor and all over the swivel joint and brake disc. So i need to renew the bushes/seal around the sensor. I did however notice that when i shone a torch down the hole that i removed the sensor from the front wheel sensor toothed rings were swimming in oil/grease- you could hardly see them! is this normal or is it a new cv joint? also could this be the source of my long ongoing ABS fault problem?

The cv joint is housed inside the swivel housing.A one shot grease pack is squirted into the swivel housing for lubrication. You would expect to see grease covering the toothed ring and the sensor tip. I believe the sensor takes a small electrical signal from the teeth as they pass.
I had an ABS problem recently, so I removed the stub axle and cleaned out inside of the swivel housing and the sensor tip (in position). re assembled and
re-filled with grease. ABS problem half cured, light goes out when vehicle is started and driven in a straight line forwards, but if its started and reversed with any sort of lock and then driven forward light stays on.I have checked the cable to make sure its not pulling anywhere.
Anyway waffling now, but would be interested to know if you do replace the cv joint whether it solves your long ongoing problem
Bloody ABS
