My rebuild is Defender 110 1987 with Disco 300Tdi engine fitted to LT77 Box
Hitting problem after problem with this combination, but slowly getting there.
So my engine is Discovery 300tdi, went and ordered filter kit today Oil and air will fit but the Oil filter does not match up to original housing in pic. It should screw up from underneath but this one has bolt through middle.

Just a thought while Im on, I ordered discovery filter kit, hence the fuel filter. Now which Air Filter do I use for my Disco 300tdi and LT77 Combination, These are the bits I have for engine bay so far. notice the Disco Air Filter Housing, but was wondering if I need to use the Disco Square filter or Defender long Round one .

Fuel filter banjo and housing sizes are pretty much standard, anyway supplier will have new ones for the unit if you want. Air box, go with what you have as long as it will fit somewhere tidy. Do not be tempted by one of them cone thing's.

You will know this already, but in your second picture, from the bottom is a coolant expansion tank, the heater matrix/box + fan and the disco air filter box. As tottot says, stick with that air box. I'm not sure of the bracket arrangement that holds it in the front right corner of the engine bay. Do you have any brackets that might be the ones in your boxes of bits?
The Defender 'long round' air box needs two brackets that are bolted down via two cylinder head bolts. So, you don't want to be taking out two cylinder head bolts, therefore disco box would be the way to go.

Will go for the Disco fuel housing, think a mate has a spare one.

Sounds easier to go with Disco box, Im sure there will be some brackets in my boxes of bits, will find them when I know what they look like.

Found this.

Found this. Don't know the Disco set up and if there are any differences between D1 and D2. Might be worth a post in the Discovery section. You can get conversion kits where they've made brackets to fit both the disco filter box and the Defender or Series body!

Yes seen this His Coversion kits are great but to expensive, but great site for info, just read some he recommends using the Disco housing so will use mine.
Also saved this pic, good to copy from
TBH I didn't notice prices when I was on the Steve Parker site. Yeah, pictures like that are what you need. :) At least in the exploded diagram in post #15 you can get an idea of what a bracket might look like in one of your boxes. You might be able to adapt it.
