Oil change...sucess!!!

I know this sounds a bit pathetic but I is well chuffed...:clap2:

Today I changed the oil in my 2001 4.6, air filter, pollen filter and oil filter too, the first time I've done anything underneath a car whoop whoop!

I did also have some new HT leads and plugs, but they looked a bit hard to get too, so maybe another time.

I tried but failed to locate the AC drain tubes (yes wet carpet) and was a bit worried about a rather large rubber bung/plug just hanging out of the gearbox housing (I think it was that). Do I need to be worried?

Whats next on my 'easy' to do list to make me feel even more puffy chest? Gearbox oil....?

BTW right now car is running really well

The HT leads can be tight but are doable you've just got to be extra careful you don't muddle them on the dis pack end. I did one lead at a time. Plug hmmmmm could it be the wading plug? We might need a piccie of that one to get a good idea. Gearbox trans fluid isn't to hard but it's not worth doing really if your not going to drop the gearbox sump and change the filter. Getting the level right once you put the sump back on can be fiddly and you need to be a little bit brave as it means having access to the filler plug while the engine is running and the exhaust is just above yer swede if your doing it without a pit or lift. You say you've done the pollen filter, without telling you how to suck eggs you know they have two? one each side. Spark plugs are nice and easy job to do. Get stuck in to them if your keen. How about checking the axle oil levels? That's nice and easy as well. Glad to see it's running well. I hope nobody tries to nick it

If you have done that, then you can tackle the diff's, before draining make sure you can undo the level plugs, auto gearbox fluid and filter change is not difficult again make sure you can undo the level plug before draining, as Dos says the exciting bit is checking auto fluid level, I burnt myself

Well done Richard, everyone has to start somewhere.
Treating the prop shafts to a grease gun is a good one while your under there.

The Transfer Box has it's own oil as well so, check that.
As advised with the diffs, make sure the level plug will undo before draining.

If you auto box does not have a dipstick, make sure you have a pump for re-filling it, I use a cheap garden sprayer with the lance removed.
Always remove or loosen filler plugs before drain plugs, then if the filler plug won't budge, you will not have a problem.

The A/C drains can be found coming out of the bodywork above the bellhousing, one either side. Squeeze the rubber on the end of the drains and you will probably get an arm full of water and dirt. Enjoy the experience and well done for what you have done so far, not bad for a virgin:clap2::clap2:
