It's seems after owning my bus for over year without any real issues has started to turn.
Sudden loss of power and dragging it's heals has gone from rarely to permanent.
No black smoke and no power... Under fueled... Damn it.. that's put an end to it for the moment.
Any suggestions please are most welcome.
Only the fact I can't put diagnostics on it, for the love of money....:(

Does turbo feed pipe to manifold plump up when engine is revved? If so. Check MAP sensor faulty or blocked or pipe to it split or blocked outlet in manifold.

Other than Wammers' suggestion, how about In tank pump working as per Wammer's How To in the Technical Section? Or the #4 injector? Or throttle position sensor. The list goes on really without a Nanocom!

Thank you, I'm writing a list as you help.
I'll get back with results...;)
I've a spare mar sensor from my old omega diesel, I'll also try a vacuum and resistance test on the map sensor and it's pipe.
Along with the air pipes to and from the manifold and intercooler.
Thanks again peeps:D

Sometimes the MAP pipe drops off as the ends perish, either at the fuel filter end or under the inlet manifold. That'd be nice and quick.

Any diesel leaking round #4 injector? Might be able to see under with a mirror?

I keep on top of the map pipe normally and always check around the injectors for any leaks, but will do so again. I've two weeks before the offroading weekend on the 19th.. couldn't go last year due to funds and this year we are even more determined to get there... Whether or not we get back is another thing.. 5.5hrs each way. Nice:cool: thanks again;)

Right then,
Air flow meter. Check.
Map pipe. Check.
Intake pipe and turbo output pipe. Check
Turbo pipe swell. Check.
Now the odd bit. Started and spooled up with no issues???
I've had a jiggling noise from the fip..
I unplugged the map sensor while running and the jiggling noise stopped, tried a couple of times and can confirm it stops the noise from the fip..
Wired thing is, I took it for a run with the map unplugged and it goes like a it should! With full power..
Now, either the ecu is a little slowing detecting the map disappearance or it doesn't talk to it? Although it should!
Ok, wizards and crystal balls to the front please.:D

I think the fuel pump wants resetting with the mileage it's got. Not to mention the chains would be a good call.
I'd swapped the map sensor last night for another off the omega once again and this morning while cold it started the jiggling noise on the pump.
I'll be needing a timing guage to check the lift I'm sure....;) thanks grrrrrrrrr:)

I got the timing tools off the Bay for about £30 or so. What I bought is in one of my threads somewhere. The hot and stalling one, I think. Pity you're not closer or you could have popped round.

Only thing that is supposed to jiggle, as you say in the pump, is the timing solenoid. That is controlled by ECU from signals received from number four injector. Has nothing to do with MAP sensor circuit. Unless the sound you hear is the stop solenoid going up and down like a brides nighty for some reason. But for the life of me can't think why it should.

Thank you, I'll give the stop solenoid a check to see if the wire could be loose.. It'll start on the button hot or cold, with no uneven idle or power issues! Only the intermittent boost loss?
I'll invest in the timing kit first and at least I can rule chain stretch... It may be while before I finish this thread with a "fixed" title..... :(
Any more thoughts are definitely appreciated:)

It did!!!:D

Well that is a bit of an enigma. When you remove the pump mid section to do seals then tap it back and forth to get 750 rpm you are adjusting the idle fuel not the timing. Try disconnecting the timing solenoid then do the test again let me know the result. You really do need to get a Nanocom. If it's not the timing solenoid or the stop solenoid it has to be the quantity servo oscillating.

Thanks wammers, timing was the wrong word I used.. idle fuel, quite rightly said.
Ok, unplugged the timing solenoid and that made a right noise... Sounded like aluminium parts bashing together!!! :confused:Did this with map connected and disconnected.o_O

As for the nano suite...I may have to sell my rubbish Volvo. Not a loss really....

You might need the Volvo yet!

Electronic stethoscope about £20 off the Bay. Might help track down exactly where the noise is coming from. I don't have MAF or EGR on mine so mine's a bit simpler. :)

How far away from @Datatek are you? he might have some diag / timing tools you could exchange for wine token or whatever the currency is over there!
