Hi,

Hope you can help me, I have a 2001 freelander V6 with a 3 amigos error i.e abs, tc, and dhd fault but this was just the start of my problems.

I took it to a local land rover specialist to find out how expensive putting these lights out was going to be .

First problem was the data port was on the drivers side footwell not were he expected it on the passengers side. - okay not problem he reached across.

Second he could not connect his computer of which he had two to the vehicle.

Looking at the port wiring (there is a black wire to pin4 and pin5 pink wires to 7 and 13 and a purple wire to 16) this does not correspond to any of the ODBII wiring I have seen on the net, pin 16 should have +12V but it has nothing.

So could anyone point me in the right direction to solve this or were I might find a Freelander wiring diagram.

Love the car but reliability worries me :( .

Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Regards,
Steve.

The purple wire should be permenant 12V supply.

Either trace the fault or put a new wire in and try again

Thanks, could not find why my purple wire is dead so cut it , then spliced 12v+ in from the back of the radio to the ODBII plug, from what I now understand land rover seem to have had the same philosophy when building the freelander , an engine from here gearbox from there.

Anyway to shorthen the story, then bought myself a cheep ODBII/ EODBII tester and I am back in business, still don’t know what the abs fault is but at least I can go back to the garage and put it on the landrover test computer.

Thanks for your help, great forum I am sure I will be back ;-)

Cheers

Steve.

Have you made sure that all the ABS sensors are fully inserted in their holes, they were prone to retract due to vibration, you can tap them down with a copper hammer,'''' CAREFULLY '''' though.

Thanks its worth a check.

Re the OBDII/EOBDII reader, I got it off ebay its a U381 only cost 48 quid ;-) , its really only a basic device for checking engine faults but it does communicate with the ECU and so confirmed that I had got past hurdle one and fixed my broken OBDII port. you need better kit to get to the ABS faults.
