Good evening all

i am looking to upgrade my current code reader (a generic code reader) and as there is a bewildering amount of differing types out there 😢 i am looking for suggestions

I also have a Hawkeye that is currently set for TD5 discovery's, does anyone know if it is possible to get unlock codes for Hawkeye for other vehicles?

as I usually have to maintain the rest of the my families vehicles i am looking for something that will cover most models as well as my freelander2

my budget is in the £100-£200 range

i await your suggestions

thanks

My suggestion is to wait for @blue beasty to put his cider down and put your thread in the appropriate location, unless asking for a new code reader is code for ‘ @kurtjohnson10 please bum me’

Shame we don’t know someone who could access the information 🧐
We have tried. Original company bought out over a decade ago. They were also sold to lr with the T4 test book. Thats why they were originally made. Some hawkeye models have a full license as standard. You can't upgrade the firmware on them because you need a new code to license the new firmware with the vehicles options you have. You occasionally see peeps selling licenses but its generated against yer hawkeye serial number. So must be a scam as theres no pre generated list of licenses to max out each serial number v different versions of firmware.

If you want a tool that diagnoses other car models you’ll have to add another couple of hundred to get a decent one.
Js…

out of curiosity what scanners are there for a non obd2 complaint these days plse

It depends on how in depth you want to go with diagnostics, and what vehicles you want to diagnose.
Unfortunately a TD5 and Freelander 2 use completely different protocols outside of OBD2, so you'll need a diagnostic tool that covers both vehicles.
You can also get something that's multi-vehicle, but that will be well over your £200 budget.

I have several different diagnostic tools, as I work on several different types of vehicles. I've picked these up bit by bit as different makes of vehicle come into our ownership.
I also haveDelphi diagnostic software and the interface, which is very handy for any random vehicle I might need to diagnose.

Hi, I use a Foxwell NT530 for my FL1 & D2 TD5. I purchased it with the software for all JLR vehicles but you can add up to 4 different manufacturers (if you need to add others you have to delete the one(s) stored). You can do live data etc & it takes a SD card I think I paid £130ish for it about 2 1/2 yrs ago. Stick to the official UK site as there are some cheaper copies out there.
