Following the ongoing annoyance with the cooling system I've just pulled the plugs and not happy with number 3 cylinder plug.
So. The story in full.
The P38 has been running fine till a couple of months ago when it gained a misfire on number 7. The plugs showed number 7 was steam cleaned. Pulled the heads (with biketeacherdave) and indeed a pin hole wear from number 7 to the water channel. Checked the liners during the change no issue.
Then the joys with the leaking heater matrix o ring. Bypassed now until Marty is back from holidays and does the matrix swap. Been driving it not so locally and the coolant levEl has been steady since matrix bypass.
Thursday the the P38 decides to dump coolant wife and baby stranded on the A31 green flag comes out pressure tests and finds no coolant leak and deducedthe coolant cap not on and tight as it seems to have puked the coolant from the expansion tank.
Pulled the plug today and not happy with the plug condition. Prior to head change number 3 had no problems.. in fact prior to the number 7 misfire all cylinders were very even.
Edit to add: the bypass of the heater matrix was at the firewall with two elbows it does look like there has been some seepage. But still concerned at the number 3 plug.. I've put a replacement plug in to see what the results of that are
