Noisy idle

Hi

My 2000, P38 4.0 is noisy when idling, like a faint whine but disappears when revved, any ideas?

Air leak on inlet side????

put a long screwdriver or dowel to your ear and place it on parts of the engine, whichever is loudest is the issue. i reckon it will be the alternator

It sounds like squeeky bearings somewhere.
