changed haldex unit after fault only to have bearing noise once changed thinking could be haldex unit as it was off a wreck but no trouble messages just bearing whining

The diff tail bearing is known to fail.
Did you just swap the Haldex, or the whole rear diff assembly?

only changed haldex unit diff seems to be ok
It's unusual for the Haldex to suffer bearing failure, but if the Haldex was out of a badly damaged vehicle, then it's possible.
Did you spin the Haldex input shaft before installing it?

luckily have olld haldex unit which only needs pump replace which is a later gen 3 unit so i'll try that and see how we go
Gen 3 Haldex was used up to the end of 8H chassis number range. The Gen 4 was introduced from 9H chassis number range.
You can't use parts between gen 3 and gen 4, or swap Gen 4 for Gen3, or Gen 3 for Gen 4.
They're totally different units , using different software specification, so the terrain response module doesn't communicate with the wrong Haldex.
