Noisy grinding sound especially in reverse

Awful noise especially in reverse and your turning. It's like grinding on metal.
It's not the CV joint as it's just come back from the garage and they tell me they are fine but that they cannot find the problem.
Any help would be useful.

Take 1 prop off (or both props and vcu at the same time if it's easier) and see if it continues. Check vcu bearings. Search on ere for vcu and loads of stuff will come up.

Also got a problem with reverse, just doesn't want to engage!! still under warranty as I only had it a week, is this a common problem, 1999 2litre diesel 3 door version! Am I taking it back and jumping up and down or trying to get it sorted! please help
