No throttle plus smoke

Hi guys and girls

Ok on my way home tonight my 300tdi gave up on me. Sorry to anyone on the basildon roundabout..

The throttle just stopped working and grey/black smoke was prolific out the exhaust. The engine will restart so it's not the timing belt but there is no throttle at all. The engine just ticks in idle and blows a lot ( and I mean a lot) of smoke out the exhaust.

AA called and trailered to local 4x4 centre.

Ant ideas peeps???????????

Black smoke is normally too much fuel or too little air. As it appears to have no go then you may be looking at an air restriction. Not unknown for air pipes to delaminate and block the airflow. Might be worth pulling the air inlet pipe from the turbo and try starting it again.
