Hi All

First post on here, here goes!

I have a 2007 Freelander 2 that was in for a transmission service. All fluid and filters have been replaced - diffs, gearbox, TC and Haldex.

Now, upon testing the drive on a lift after all this, there appears to be no drive to the rear wheels. I’ve been told this isn’t normal, and the likely culprit is that the splined output sleeve from the gearbox to the TC. Just trying to ascertain whether this is likely to be correct?

Any advice/info welcome!

Cheers

If you have it with the engine running, in drive/gear with all the wheels off the floor, then the front wheels will turn, as should the propshaft. The Haldex won't engage, but the clutches might still transfer enough torque to turn the rear wheels too.
If the propshaft isn't turning, then either the spline link between the gearbox and PTU has failed, or the PTU itself has failed.
It's not uncommon for an un-serviced Haldex to cause prolonged drive between the front and rear axles, which causes the PTU to be overloaded, wearing the spline link, or causing the PTU to fail completely.

My own 2008 FL2 had a new rear diff, and PTU at 110k miles.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the car is off the floor in gear and only the front wheels are turning. As far as I know, the prop shaft isn’t moving either, so the spline as previously mentioned, or the PTU have failed. The car has done about 165k. From the history, the haldex was last serviced at about 80k

If the propshaft isn't turning, then there's a failure in the drive to the PTU, or the PTU itself has failed.
Bell engineering will sell what you need.
