Lost all drive yesterday while off road happening right after engaging the centre diff lock for the first time. There was no bang or anything just stoped. I was thinking clutch but people have been telling me the transfer box could be stuck in neutral if so anyone know how to fix it??

A ‘how to do it’ taken from the owners handbook, as your T box is already in neutral its just one movement of the lever to select the ratio you choose, H or L.

Thanks but it’s not that it’s not engaged on the stick I’m saying something is broken and is not allowing it to engage despite being in the correct position. I use low range a lot so I know when the stick is in the correct position

The D2 transfer box is linked to the lever via Bowden style cable, and is know to have issues such as seizure, also the fixings brackets can break I believed, other than that an issue maybe within the box.

Thanks I will take a proper look tomorrow. I’m still not convinced it’s not the clutch or gearbox do you know if there is anyway to check without dropping the gearbox out ?

Ok, I've only issue with my T box, but my reading on issues with the box I found lots in the forums (landyzone) etc, plus workshop manuals.
I understand that the external linkage can be reached from below the vehicle, it certainly can with my D1, but for looking inside the box the cubby box and central console has to removed to give access to the top of the box,
then remove a cover to for access to more selector parts.

My first and only issue is I can’t move the selector… it’s seized.
Not a big issue for me, as in the 34 years of ownership with a vehicle fitted with a T box, I’ve use diff-lock only once back in winter of 2012 when there was a bit more snow than usual in my area, so I thought I’d used it, it was great instantly engaging and disengaging when required, it stopped the disco drifting sideways on roundabouts and so went round as if on rails :)

But since then no hope, I will have to slow down on roundabouts if my part of the world gets more than an inch of snow this year :(
