I notice in a search of the internet that there were some good prices to be
had on new Nissan Terrano 5 door 2.7 diesels, I don't think my budget would
run to the new 3.0 lt engine. I tow a caravan with an all in weight of
1325kgs. Any views of longevity, reliability, will it do its job, economy
and any other information would be useful.

Thanks

Where are the good deals David, I might be in for a 3Litre if I can get a good
deal on my 806.

The 2.7 is more than capable to cope with that weight David. Around
22-25mpg towing and 30-35mpg solo (manual, bit lower for auto) The very
plasticky facia tends to rattle after a few miles on the clock and the
sun reflection back onto the windsreen can be problem. Access to the
rear dicky seats (7str) is awkward with very little leg room. Otherwise
UK.

I'm surprised you've not asked on CLIC? See you at Sandringham?

Bob

So far I have only looked on www.jamjar.com they also seem willing to
entertain a part exchange. The saving on the 2.7 was around £4000 which I
thought was quite substantual but the saving on the 3 litre was much less.

Graham

Thanks for the info. I have not yet put this message on clic or uk.rec.
caravanning. I thought I would try a specialist newsgroup first. Sorry won't
be at Sandringham as we will be on our way to France.

My 2.7TDI LWB Auto is 2 years old and just going through 80,000 miles
(yes I know its a lot - aaaagh the devaluation!!)

First tyres lasted 56,000 miles. Needed new discs around the same
time. Now needs new rear shoes (Nissan dealer part only on the newer
models £90 a set!)
Odometer failed at 54,000 miles/18 months - a common problem
apparently, try hitting the dashboard top, it the digits change then a
new one is required)

Returns a steady 22/23 Mpg no matter what I do.

Factory fit radio is crap.

Good off-road but sand/mud stuffs some sort of cover/guard on the
steering ends.
(nissan dealer quote "what have you been doing to this?")

Dealer servicing costs astronomical
