Just thought i would pop in and say hello. Am proud owner of a freelander 1.8 yes, 1.8 k series, I did alot of research before buying and horror stories of CHG failure which in these motors isnt a massive job. All i can say is VW TDI power in 2 months time.:D. Reason am on here is to get some help and advice along the way so any input greatly appriciated

Yes binning the k series and putting the non pd vw lump in it a bit of work in fact alot but i think it worth it. Bought the freelander for 450 squid and have the passat here it was rear ended so have everything but drive shaft for the swap. 99k on he freebie but will loose 4wd dnt mind it's for the miss us anyway. Just waiting the the 1.8 to blow up. From what I read it won't take 2 long for that to happen lol

BMW pumps and injectors too expensive. This costs me 450 the way it sits, and is in mint condition previous owner was a woman. The donar Passat is my own so I know the history of the engine which I owned for 6 years and put 50k on in that time. It has 90k on it was serviced every 5k clinker. My brother is a mechanic so this will cost me less than a grand by the time its done, couldn't get a diesel one for that money or at least a good diesel one.non pd vw engines are very reliable
