Newbie question on Coil

Hi all,

I'm new here today - but as I'm restoring am ex-MOD 109 I will no be living on this forum (hopefully helping occasionally as well as asking stuff!)

I attach a picture of my coil - should a wire be connected to the left had bottom terminal? If so, what? I have a unconnected female terminal below (photo 2) but it would not reach now if this is what fell off!

I'm useless with wiring diagrams - so I hope I don't get laughed at for newbie questions....

power to one side.
other side goes to points in distributor.

What he said. Take a clear picture from a bit further away - after cleaning the wires so we can see what colours they are - and we should be able to help. Try and get a picture that includes the coil and distributor

Should be a white wire from the loom to the + terminal and a white with black stripe from the - to the dizzy. I'm a bit concerned about the general mess this wiring is in - there should only be these connections. One of the spare black wires might be going to the suppressor condenser on the bulkhead but it looks like it's suffered at the hands of previous owners. Why do people find electrics so hard!?

That's not a mess - you should see mine! I've taken plenty of 12V switched ignition feeds from the coil for under bonnet stuff like the carb solenoids and to relays for other switched loads.
