newbie needs help

right guys ive bought 4ltr range rover vogue se(1992)last weekend and well happy with it but ive got a promlem with it and in need of some advice asap.when im driving it sometimes the battery type symbol light comes on and goes off sometimes stays on for a short while but then could stay off for a long time lol would anyone know what could cause this,also i had a look at the battery yesterday and its lowish on water in it so could that be my fault as in not much to charge inside it or not?

if i rember rightly its best to boil the kettle and let the water cool right down then put that in a battery as de-ironised water the cheap way.

almost any car parts type shop will check your battery and alternator, for free.

battery was bone dry so ive topped it up now hopefully that will cure the prob.now ive sorted 2 probs out today on it(fingers crossed)the other was a sticky boot door but now ive spotted another poss prob ive got some kind of oil leak and its hitting the floor on the left hand side of the engine around by the battery any ideas whats around that area which could be the fault guys.

Left hand side on a 3.9 is the dipstick, and also the oil filler on the top of the rocker cover. Check for signs of oil around the breather pipe (could be this) and the rocker cover itself, or it could just be a spillage from a bad oil fill job that dribbled. Are you sure it's not the swivels that are leaking

if it wur bone dry there is a very good chance that its flooked.. yule probelly need a new battery

oil dip stick is on the right hand side of mine.

ive just popped out to take some quick pics and am in the middle of uploading them to show you

right then this is underneith by drivers side front wheel.

it seems like a lot of oil down by the bottom pipe to the rad

also whats this next to my air filter




as theres a slight leak from the underneith of this is this for my lpg?

Dirty tractor thingy

just had a look at the pas header tank and its now low so i presume it is the steering box thats leaking then as my oil level hasnt dropped at all?
