Newbie looking at buying a Freelander...

Hi all, love the land rover brand always have , since I bought my old bobtail Rangie 11 years ago....now decided I will have another one and am looking at a Freelander xedi 1994cc with 130k on the clock....is there anything I should be concerned or looking for? Any seriously expensive pitfalls on them? Also is there a guide to VIN numbers that would tell what year it was actually made?
