Hi All seroiusly thinking of buying a Freelander tommorow.
Got my eye on a 54 plate pre registered TD4 OR 5 cant remember. Its the spec below the HSE. Got everything as dealer extras.
Its done 1065 miles only and its up at £15k. I currently drive an X type Jaguar that keeps getting reaptedly vandalised:mad:
Is this a good buy or do i look privately.

Nice forum guys

I'm no expert at buying cars. I once bought a Land Rover for £300, spent £1,000 on it and sold it for £100.

The remainder of the 3 year warantee is good for peace of mind but it is worth checking that known faults/recalls have been sorted out before it expires.

The low mileage is attractive, but you have to ask yourself where it has been sitting around. Most vehicles don't take well to periods of unprotected dormancy.

The TD4 is the best allround engine choice. You are, however, making quite a change from a Jag to a Freelander but I presume you are comfortable with it!

You might like to consider the transmission choice. Most people either love or hate auto gearboxes. I prefer manual but would make an exception if I was to buy another Freelander. I would seriously consider an auto because it is more sympathetic to the vehicle off road. This probably isn't an issue unless you do a lot of steep off road or towing.

Have fun

Cheers

Blimey - I skip read that as Newbie from Hell:eek:

Sounds OK to me, but I wouldn't buy this one on the basis that there are plenty around, get a feel for the right price and best spec.

If you like it though, I would get a new or ex-demo TD4 which attracts the manufacturer discount and cheap finance instead.

The driving position will be very different, in our Td4 I always felt like I was sat on, not in the front seat. This was made worse by having slippy leather. We had a manual, but I really preferred the auto.

For sale:-

- Ifor Williams Top (window not mesh)
- Winch bumper with WARN winch
- A Bar with spot lights
- Safari Snorkel
- Loads of 5 bar ali plate
- Raised heater intake
- Finally it had a converted rear door instead of the tail gate. but this was smooth like a cut down door as opposed to the standard conversion which uses the tail gate.
