newbie/300tdi or td5 ?

hi all, its time for a landy, its been about 10yrs since my last one a Slll 109
i now need another. however do i go for a well sorted tdi or td5. It must be a 110 csw, to transport 3-4 persons, dog, 2 sets of diving gear, 2 kayaks, 2 bikes and tow a large caravan.
wont be doing any major off road stuff, and it will also be used as a every day transport, skool run, shopping etc....
Budget is upto 15k but do i spend all of this on a 3ish yr old td5 out of warrenty, and have to find the extra money for roof rack etc... or do i get a specialist builder to build me a tdi to my requirments with the knowlage that all should then be well with it?
Will the tdi have enough tourque to cope with all the gear i take with me and tow a 2 ton caravan? Even after squeezing every last pony out of it.
at the moment i use a hyundai terracan which tows fantasticly (dont even know the van is there!) but it is a struggle to get all the gear in.
Any help would be most welcome, my 13yr old son and i are getting quite excited about getting another landy after so long. cheers marcus

110 tdi or td5 will drag the factory they were built in!The only problem ive found is they go fairly slow solo and they go the same with a 2ton drilling rig on the back(I dont have a caravan).And you'll get all the gear in/on.
