New winch solinoid clicking whilst winching,

I've just changed my winch solinoid as the old one would sometimes decide not to winch in, the one removed was an old type 4 little things tide together with metal strips and linked with wires, I've fit an albright copy wired it all works, besides it clicks like mad when winching in or out,

Have I wired it wrong or is it faulty?

make sure you have a realy good earth ,

check all connections wire brush them up and wd40 them i did same winch has worked spot on ever since

You were all sort of right, I got hold of a warn wiring diagram I have a switched earth on my handset that wasn't earthed,

It smells like burning tho like a clutch,

And it smelt like burning cause the earth wire was fecked,

Also rewired tge power cables with an isolator and 70mm cable (cost me same as 50mm cause they dint have that in stock, also taken tge negative back to the battery.
