I forgot to mention this bit in my last post; Just won a new vehicle today on fleabay. 1997 88'' diesel, MOT till May, tax till end of month, described as a good runner, it has tropical roof and safari sides. Buying sight unseen is never recommended, so why do I do it every bloody time! Still for less than a grand I might just be lucky...

Looks good, I love those safari roofs. I think you should enjoy that once you get used to the noise and 40/45 mph cruise. Much quicker and it will protest and make even more noise.
I get 26/29 mpg from mine which beats the petrols but I do think the petrol jobs are much nicer to drive.

Looks good and not a bad price, Mine is a 72 5 Door but still returns 28mpg at 50-55 on regular runs from Manchester to London... Just takes a while lol

and its surprising how much difference a tropical roof makes in the summer... real bonus

Cheers Steve

1977 puts in slap in ' rubbish BL steel supplies' territory. So just check all the steel bits haven't turned into rust and holes. Chassis, bulkhead, doors and front rad panel are vulnerable.

Looks cool though, the safari roof is useful as it keeps it aerated in the wet and cool in the summer. Well, ish.

Good luck on your first viewing (I'm not taking the pi$$) :)

I picked up antichrist2 (aka 'new toy') at 7 last night, it was hoying it down, I've never been to Southport in my life and my tom-tom gave up at the petrol station where I went to fill up (gauge u/s). To say I got lost would be mild, anyhow I finally found the M6 and sort of gained some confidence. The next action was in hindsight, lunacy. I decided to cut Northeast across country, Vasco de Gamma I aint, so another 90 mins. on the journey. Filled up on (finally) arriving in Durham and bugga me only £26 to fill it!!
Well there are good bits, bad bits and two surprises to share but I'll get around to them in a bit, (still getting me breath back).

Well a/c2 will never be a show truck or even a tidy one, it has some nasty dents, its filthy smelly, the wiring is a nightmare and not much electrical seems to work. It is redeemed by the fact that it has a very quiet (albeit sloppy) gearbox, a non-whining overdrive, freewheeling hubs and a second tank with a proper switchover. All the safari bits (and the door tops) are ok or easily reconditioned. I am now wondering whether I should just swap these goodies onto a/c1 and flog a/c2 as a taxed and mot’d rolling restoration project. I don’t think I can lose going down this route, I won’t be destroying anything and a/c2 will live to fight another day. Damned photos wont download!!
