Hello there, I've been prompted to introduce myself after posting a thread so here goes, I'm 59 and work as a helicopter crewman instructor. I have a couple of Nortons one of which has a ****el engine. I have rebuilt this engine and every aspect of the other one in the 38 years I've owned it.
I have had a 55 plate TD4 Freestyle for about 6 months, I fitted a Ron box and Pierburg maf along with a EGR bypass and it goes alright. It's a bit noisy above 70 and the radio on off switch has a mind of it's own and the hand brake is dire. I've towed a 1600kg caravan with it and it's up to the job. The gap between first and second gear ratio is massive and that is a pain for towing. I was pleasantly surprised at its driving manners and it does what I want it to. I've had the rear drums off and there is nothing untoward there so I'm guessing all TD4 handbrakes are poor.
Always keen to learn
Dave
