Hi, I'm Peter Merrington from Cape Town, South Africa. I've got a 1982 series 3, which was brought to South Africa from England, ex army. LWB station wagon. A blackwood tree fell on it outside my home, squashed the roof, and I've taken off the roof and walls, got a full-length hood from Dunsfold, and converting the Landy. Which means getting old doors to cut in half to fill in the rear doors, fitting a stronger front door post, rivetting the sharks' teeth to top of windscreen, fitting tailgate, sticks, and cleats for the rope.
Reverse gear jumps out violently as soon as I put on the throttle. I've just taken out the reverse detent spring. Workshop manual says this can be caused by weakened spring. Does anybody know the uncompressed exact length this spring should be? Otherwise, I suppose, the dogs are worn.
My other vehicles are five motorcycles.
Peter
