Hi guys. I had totally forgotten I joined this site, as I gave my Freelander 1 to my son years ago. It's still going!
I have since moved near to Stranraer from Northumberland.
Yesterday I picked up a 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 Auto with 75k miles on the clock from a dealer in Kircaldy.
I love it, although I'm still finding my feet. It's a lovely car with 2 minor faults. The passenger mirror winds in but not back out and the right side vent in the front wing has discolouration. The dealer has offered to pay for the mirror fix.
Q1. How do I fix the mirror.
Q2 How do I remove the vent to rechrome?
Regards
Bongo

Nice looking motor.

If the dealer is paying, then give it to a garage or auto electrician to fix. Better still, get them to organise it and you can just drop the car off with who ever they use.

Regarding vent, I'll follow the replies as it was about the only issue with mine when I got it. Not sure its chrome though, probably plastic that needs to be replaced. you can probably find some "really lovely" ones on Ali that also have various useless gadgets built in.

Nice!

The plastic side vents just pull out (bottom first). No tools.
The website below has very nice replacements, along with a ‘how to’. Not expensive and a great upgrade.

Mine has nice black ones fitted by the previous owner, replacing the silver original… looks very smart I think.

Welcome the FL2 looks nice MOT is ok too seems to have any advisories carried out, wonder what it looks like underneath being from that area, do you know when the belts were last changed, in the time scale they are due, also due to being an Auto the same goes for the gearbox fluid, rear diff oil, Haldex oil and filter, front PTU oil, brake fluid change when was that last done it should be every tow years.

Side vents first remove the indicator slide it and remove.

Next insert fingers into the space for the indicator.

On my other FL2 Tambora i removed them and painted them black.

Also, many FL2s have a loose air duct, which causes a rattling sound over bumps.
I did a video on how to cure it.
