Hi guys. I've been a forum member elsewhere for many years but am a newbie here. I currently have two Landies. A 1980 SIII called henry who Ive had for around ten years. Henry is a hardworking old boy. I use him around the farm, but mostly in the woods where I harvest trees for firewood. I have just bought a mk1 hydraulic winch (in bits) and a capstan missing some parts from the drive. Hopefully get them fitted fairly soon. Henry is completely standard, except on a galvy chassis - starting to corrode now as its at least 20 years old now. 2.25 diesel fitted.
I also have Fred, a 1990 90CSW. I swapped a clapped out old Audi A6 for Fred. He started life in some posh place in the south of England, owned by an aristocrat. That aristocrat bought an estate on the west coast of Scotland and the 90 was used to travel up and down. Eventually he was left up there and was used only to launch a boat in the sea. When I got Fred, the chassis was completely rotten. So far i have replaced the rear xmember, replated most of the side rails and replaced one of the footwells. I still have to do the outriggers, and the other footwell before the chassis work is complete. The 19J is out and stripped but is a bit too far gone to be worth fixing so I'm thinking of putting in a v8. Gearbox also needs some TLC as 2nd gear synchro is knackered.
As for me, I'm a mechanical engineer working at the University of Dundee. Ive worked on cars since I was a little boy helping my Dad around the farm. I love all things mechanical especially engines - old engines. I also have a couple of vintage stationary engines. Looking forward to meeting all you guys.
