Well here I am checking out the latest news and postings in the wonderful world on LandRover.
I have just bought a 2003 Disco TD5 GS7 (face-lift) Auto to replce a Vzuxhal Zafira which goes back (lease) in Jan. This is my 4th Landy and I am very pleased with it. It is light years beyind my other 3 Landys I have owned.
No. 1 1977 Series III 2 1/4 Diesel
This LR looked great, fresh paint, tidy looking engine bay and the promise that quite a bit of money had been spent on it. It just wouldn't start properly, you had to grind the starter for ages before it would start and it ate heater plugs. Whoever had done the engine work had set the timing wrong and after retiming from first principles (from Haynes manual) it started first time everytime until the block was burst by freezing.
No. 2 1978 Series III 2 1/4 Diesel
Built on new chassis by Moore Tweed in Belfast, no problems at all, only sold when I was moving the the USA.
No. 3 1992ish Discovery Diesel
Again no problems, only sold when I fliiped my KTM Enduro bike and smashed my leg to pieces.
So will see you all on the road.
