Hi all.

After a bit of absence from the forums, (gaining info rather than giving to be honest) as I'm a relative nubie compared to some of th wise masters on here) I'm back to reincarnate my improvement thread with some pics that I will hunt down.

I have introduced myself in the intro forums, but hope nobody minds me leaping in with a question.

I put some terrafirma springs put on my D1 but owing to naivety, I did not realised that despite them being standard height, they are reinforced so it has of course affected the ride. I plan to take it back to factory spec and have been quoted £250 for a set of 4 genuine landrover springs from local Land Rover main dealer.

Is this a fair price or are there other places that will sell proper genuine springs at a better price.

I'm open to suggestions but want a less harsh ride than I have produced for myself. I have comfort polybushes all round but not really feeling the benefit.

Many thanks and I will re sort my photos to go on here real soon. Also, will be starting an overland trailer build thread soon too.

Best wishes.
S.

Just get britpart, despite their poor reputation, shocks and springs is something they're good at. Anywhere like paddock/craddock/LRDirect etc sell them.

Hi.
Thanks for the reply. Britpart did cross my mind but have heard lots of negatives too. So many threads on here saying pros and cons. Hard to decide. !

£250 is daylight robbery. I bought new genuine through, IIRC, craddocks for my D1 resto, and they were less than half that.

I think the britpart ones were about £17 each at the time ( can't remember if it was +VAT or not, sorry ).

Only my opinion, but, steer well clear of the main stealers unless you are backed into the corner of all corners.... and when you are up said creek without even a teaspoon for a paddle, demand a discount - no discount = go to another dealer !!

That's really useful. Thanks muchly.
Don't suppose you could recommend a supplier or will they be available from the usual spares dealers.

Nope, not a supplier as just a few arround nowadays, the secret is to know what you want then search for a supplier, easy with www, even easier in the old days just look in the LR parts book and then go to the nearest main dealer :)

For a spring manufacture then its British Springs, OE manufacture to LR and others, they have a site u may be able to go direct to purchase your springs, but may cost a little bit more that the Chinese copies.

How much!!!

Have a chat with Paddocks, they sell various springs and not just Brit part. For 250 I would want springs shocks and a bloody good night on the town.

Just had a flick through my invoices and found that in August I purchased for my 110 from LRDirect, 4 springs (britpart standard), 4 shocks (OE), galv turret kit, 2 bump stops - £208.73 delivered. And 110 rear springs are double the cost of fronts/90/disco.
