Hey all! Let me first off say I am super excited about my new Rover, and secondly please forgive any forum mores I might break. I am new to the whole concept and know less about forum etiquette/procedure than I do about my new truck!
So I was told I just got a '73, but there is nothing to support that claim. I understand that there is very little difference in the years but whats my best bet to find out what year for sure? I got an engine number off the block but I don't know where to check it. 36621873B if that helps.
Additionally, what is the best way to start her up??? The handover was a bit lacking in instruction so I have been trying to figure it out on my own. I understand the glow plug 'on switch' is the red plunger on the picture that I hopefully uploaded. Also, what does the switch to the left of that do? And the green plunger in between the speedo and fuel/heat display... when I pull it out nothing I can notice happens other than it lights up.
I have been starting it up by pulling the red plunger out (it lights up). I wait a minute or two and then crank it. Then I let it idle a few minutes before I take off. Am I doing this wrong????
Also, there is a slow leak coming from the exhaust manifold where it bolts into the block. And another which I believe is the valve gasket. I am about to ship the truck to the US (from Italy) and it can't have any oil leaks. I don't have time to do them myself, any ideas on about how difficult or expensive this should be to fix?
I appreciate any help!
