I'm looking at getting myself a Land Rover after a few years away. So far, I'm most tempted by a Discovery 2 or maybe even a TD4 Freelander 1.

This will purely be a weekend toy, and so will serve no other function than the odd greenlane and popping off on excursions and camping trips etc. hence why I don't want to spend a great deal (ideally around £4K) by replacing my old Defender, or going for a Discovery 3.

As I'm sure you're aware, the 'road tax' structure is all changing in April this year, but how will this affect the models I'm considering - TD4 FL1 or TD5 Disco?

I think I'm right in saying that the current road tax for these is £285pa? What will this go up to, as it may not be worth my while getting a toy vehicle if it's going to be ridiculous to tax it for very minimal use.

Hiya,

If you do a search , you will find this has been discussed at least twice in the last few weeks.:D

To cut a long story short, there is a lo of scaremongering, the new rules are for cars registered April 2017 onwards.

Cheers

Stranger things have happened, especially on here.......LOL......:p:p:p:p

Yes, you will notice i was questioning you, as you said it cost £500 to tax, I was asking if it was a TD5 as that is what the post is about....Go read the OP ..

How hard is that to understand???
