Hi Nalin, Worked in sri lanka years ogo, on the dam top side of Kandy, the landy is good for area, had quite a few with the company there, hope you enjoy the forum.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, there are quite a few. S1 to S3. Vey rare petrol ones though. Cost of petrol do not allow the luxury of running a petrol. Most have been converted to diesel, the most popular being the Mitsubishi 4DR5 sometimes with the Mitsubishi gear box and some with Nissan SD 22 and 33, Toyota iC and 2C etc.

Very few seiries ones with original diesel engine and LR gear box, the ones that are original are in very good condition in regular use and the owners don't even dream of parting with them.

Most have been used by Police, Armed Forces and Government with a few private ones.

Quite a few are used for safari vehicles in the Wildlife parks where they are in their element. Seen some Forward Control FC and 2b's. sadly with replaced engines.

Seen a few with mechanical drum winch and one with an original land rover hydraulic winch with the hydraulic pump working off the PTO. Saw only one with a capstan winch and the owner was clueless as to how it worked ! Generally they are more expensive over here.

Recently some one had restored a S3 6x6. looks a stunner !

Couldn't get close to check the rear axle drives and the spring arrangement.

Hi sws

You must have been working with Balfour on dams. Quite a few S3's were used there.

Cheers
